The Job Interview

A job interview is your opportunity to present your talents to a prospective employer. During the interview, an employer judges your qualifications, appearance, and general fitness for the job opening. It is your opportunity to convince the employer that you can make a real contribution.

Equally important, the interview gives you a chance to evaluate the job, the employer, and the company. The interview helps you decide if the job meets your career needs and interests and whether the employer is the kind you want to work for.

Before each interview, though, you should act as if the job you are applying for is the one you want – because it may be. To present your qualifications most  advantageously, you have to prepare. You should have the needed papers ready and the necessary information about yourself memorized. And you should know how to act at the interview to make it an opportunity to “sell” your skills.

Собеседование о приеме на работу.

Собеседование  о приеме на работу – это ваша возможность показать ваши способности будущему работодателю. Во время собеседования работодатель оценивает вашу квалификацию, внешний вид и основное соответствие для предлагаемой работы. Это ваша возможность убедить работодателя, что вы можете внести реальный взнос.

Также важно, что собеседование дает вам шанс оценить работу, работодателя и компанию. собеседование помогает вам решить, подходит ли эта работа вашим карьерным нуждам и интересам и оценить работодателя, с которым вы хотите работать.

Хотя перед каждым собеседованием вам следует вести себя так, как будто вы обращаетесь именно за тем. что вам и нужно, потому что это так и может быть. Чтобы показать вашу квалификацию с большим преимуществом, вы должны подготовиться. Вам следует иметь при себе необходимые готовые документы и подготовить необходимую информацию о себе. И вам следует знать. как вести себя во время собеседования, чтобы была возможность «продать» ваши умения.

To present the qualifications most  advantageously, I have to prepare. I should have the needed papers ready and the necessary information about myself memorized.

III. Переведите предложения на русский язык.

a)

1. Why don’t you go to Mr. Brown for advice? He would tell you what to do, he would help you to make the necessary arrangements.

Почему ты не идешь за советом к мистеру Брауну? Он бы рассказал тебе, что делать, он бы помог тебе сделать необходимые планы.

2. I’d like to make friends with Nick. It would be nice of you.

Я бы хотел подружиться с Ником. Это было бы мило с твоей стороны.

3. Ann is an excellent storyteller. It would be wonderful to have her in our drama group.

Аня – превосходная рассказчица историй. было бы замечательно иметь ее в нашей драматической группе.

b)

1. Why didn’t you come to our place yesterday? You would have enjoyed hearing Peter tell us about his trip.

Почему вы не пришли к нам вчера? Вам бы понравилось слушать, как Петя рассказывал о своей поездке.

2. I’m sorry he wasn’t at the office at the time. He would have attend to the  matter immediately.

Жаль, что его не было в офисе в тот момент. Он бы уделил внимание  этому вопросу немедленно

It was very wise of you to leave a message for him. There would have been no point in waiting for him.

Было очень благоразумно с вашей стороны отправить сообщение ему. Не было бы смысла ждать его.

c)

1. I  would  have told you everything frankly, but you were away on business, the boy said to his uncle.

Я бы рассказал все тебе откровенно, но ты был в отъезде по делам, сказал мальчик своему дяде.

2. Come to my place this afternoon. The weather is lovely. We could go for a walk. You could enjoy having a walk in the forest, I am sure.

Приходи ко мне сегодня после обеда. Погода замечательная. мы могли бы сходить погулять. Ты мог бы насладиться прогулкой в лесу, я уверен.

3. Peter is a good speaker. He would have kept to the subject, but on this occasion he was interrupted all the time and it made his speech too long as a result.

Петя - хороший рассказчик. Он бы раскрыл тему, но в этом случае его все время прерывали и , как результат, это сделало его речь слишком долгой

4. The boy has been very active. It would only be just to praise him.

Мальчик был очень активный. Это было  единственное, за что его можно было бы похвалить

5. “Can you wait a bit longer?” Jack asked the manager. “I know my friend would be interested in getting the job”

«Вы можете подождать немного подольше?» - спросил Джек у менеджера. «Я знаю, что мой друг заинтересовался бы в получении этой работы»

IV. Раскройте скобки и поставьте глагол в правильную форму Subjunctive I (сослагательного I), переведите предложения на русский язык.

1. “Why don’t you leave him alone?” the mother asked the  son. “He feels rather upset after what’s happened, and a few friendly words would cheer up him”.

«Почему ты не оставляешь его одного?» - спросила мама сына. « Он чувствует себя достаточно расстроенным после того, что произошло, и несколько дружеских слов подбодрили бы его»

2. It’s a pity John wasn’t  there. He would have convinced you in no time.

Жаль, что Джона не было там. Он бы смог убедить тебя вовремя

3. “I’m looking forward to getting the results of the experiment”, said the scientist. “It would be very useful to compare them with the figures we’ve got now.”

«Я жду с нетерпением получения результатов», - сказал ученый. «Было бы полезно сравнить их с цифрами, которые у нас есть сейчас»

4. Why didn’t you tell me you were cold? I would have shut the window long ago.

Почему вы не сказали мне, что вам холодно? Я бы давно закрыл окно

5. I didn’t know you needed those figures. I would have looked them up when I was in the reading room.

Я не знал, что тебе нужны те данные. Я бы посмотрел их, когда был в читальной комнате

6. Your  son’s  getting very shy. It would be a good idea to send him to a camp for the summer. It would do him a lot of good.

Ваш сын становиться очень застенчивым. Было бы хорошей идеей отправить его в лагерь летом. это принесло бы ему много пользы.

7. I am glad I left  before five. The traffic there is usually very heavy by five. It would have held me up.

Я рад, что я уехал до пяти часов. Уличное движение там обычно очень затруднено к пяти часам. это могло бы меня задержать.

8. Why do you want to stay with your relatives? I would prefer spending a holiday at the seaside.

9. “The children have already been out of sight for half and hour,” said the man. “I’m afraid it would be impossible for your to reach them now.

V. Объясните, что предлагает наш воображаемый собеседник, используя   сослагательное наклонение I, слова to suggest, to order, to recommend, necessary, important, desirable и т.д и предлагаемые модели.
