    • Management is an activity of getting people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives
    • A manager is a person who directs or manages an organization

What makes a good manager?

Good manager should 

    • Be able to think creatively to provide a vision for the company and solve problems
    • Be calm under the pressure and make clear decisions
    • Possess excellent 2-way communication skills
    • Have a desire to achieve great things
    • Be well informed and knowledgeable about matters relating to the business

Styles of management 

   Autocratic

   Paternalistic

   Democratic

Autocratic style of management 

   Advantages

      Quick decision making

      Effective when employing many low skilled workers

   Disadvantages

      No 2-way communications

      No motivation

      Creates them and us attitude between managers and workers

Paternalistic style of management 

   Advantages

      More 2-way communications

      More motivation

      Workers fell that they are needed

   Disadvantages

      Slows down decision making

      Still quite autocratic style of management

Democratic style of management 

   Advantages

      Good 2-way communications

      Good motivation

      Discussing groups

   Disadvantages

      Mistakes and errors can be made if workers are not skilled and experienced enough
