Canadian economy

Canada is the world's second-largest country with one of the most complex and advanced economies in the world. Canada closely resembles the US in its market-oriented economic system, pattern of production, and high living standards.

Earlier the growth of Canada depended on developing and exporting natural resources. It is rich in iron ore, nickel, zinc, copper, gold, lead, wildlife, coal, petrol, natural gas, etc. It still extracts and processes these resources, especially fish, furs, timber, and minerals. However, during the 20th century manufacturing and service industries became much more important. Those changes turned the nation from a largely rural into primarily industrial and urban. Nowadays one-fifth of its population work in manufacturing; two-thirds work in service industries which include transportation, trade, finance and some others; and only 3% of the work force are employed in agriculture and produce wheat, tobacco, dairy products and so on. The Canadian government encouraged manufacturing industries through protective tariffs on import of manufactured goods. As the result many American business firms established their Canadian branches, and now they supply the Canadian market.

Canada is also highly integrated into the global economy through trade, and exports account for 33,6 percent of its Gross Domestic Product. It exports such goods as motor vehicles and parts, industrial – machinery, aircraft, telecommunications equipment, chemicals, plastics, petroleum, natural gas, electricity, aluminium. Its most important export partner is the US – its share in Canadian export is about 85%.

Канада – вторая по величине во всем мире страна с одной из самых  сложных и передовых экономических  систем в мире. Канада очень похожа на США в его ориентируемой  на рынок экономической системе, образце производства и высоком  жизненном уровне.

Раньше рост Канады зависел от добычи и экспорта природных ресурсов. Она  богата железной рудой, никелем, цинком, медью, золотом, лидерством, живой природой, углем, бензином, природным газом, и  т.д. Она до сих пор занимается добычей и переработкой этих природных ресурсов, особенно рыбы, меха, древесины и полезные ископаемых. Однако, в течение 20-го столетия производство и сферы услуг стали намного более важными. Те изменения прежде всего повернули нацию преимущественно от сельскохозяйственной к индустриальной и городской. В настоящее время одна пятая ее населения работает в производстве; две трети работают в сферах услуг, которые включают транспортировку, торговлю, финансы и прочие; и только 3% рабочей силы наняты в сельском хозяйстве и производят муку, табак, молочные продукты и так далее. Канадское правительство поощряло обрабатывающую промышленность посредством льготных тарифов на импорт промышленных товаров. В результате многие американские бизнес-фирмы основали канадские филиалы и направления, и теперь они поставляют продукцию канадский рынок.

Канада также глубоко интегрирована  в мировую экономику посредством  торговли и экспортирует примерно 33,6 процентов Валового национального  продукта. Она экспортирует такие  товары как автомашины и запасные части, промышленные машины, самолеты, телекоммуникационное оборудование, химикаты, пластмассы, нефть, природный газ, электричество, алюминий. Самый важный экспортный партнер Канады – США – его доля в канадском экспорте – приблизительно 85%.
