Medical deontology (from the Greek.  "Deon" - granted, and "logos"  - Teaching) - teaching about proper medicine.

Chekhov wrote about the medical  profession: "The medical profession -  is a feat, it requires self-sacrifice,  purity of mind and purity of thoughts"

Medical deontology has come a  long and difficult way of development.  The origins of ethics goes back to  antiquity.

 

One might think that the  first person who has treated his neighbor  did this from a sense of of compassion,  desire to help in adversity, to ease  his pain, in other words, from a  sense of of humanity.

The term "deontology" was  coined by the English philosopher of ethics,  utilitarian Bentham in the early 19th  century.

Prominent role in the formation  of Hippocratic medicine, and the main  problems as a science and as a moral  activity

Duties of a doctor to the  patient Hippocrates formulated in the famous  "Oath":

  "Pure and undefiled I will spend my life and my art ... In every house where I have come I will enter only for the good patients, keeping myself far from all intentional unfair and harmful ... No matter what I saw or heard about any human life from the fact that you should not ever disclose, I'm even talking about, considering these things in secret ... ".

Man - the highest value of  all the values ​​of the world -  that is the principle of humanity, the  most important principle of medical ethics.

Pirogov - 4 conditions for  correct behavior surgeon:

 

• Confidence in the recognition of the disease and the patient;
• Take time operation, producing favorable moral influence on the patient to raise his hopes to eliminate his fears and doubts;
• Not only do the operation skillfully, but also to be able to prevent complications;
• A follow post-operative treatment with the appropriate care.

Job Title Physician - the  most humane of all human activities, which  are often heroic, and often associated  with dramatic situations. There is no  task nobler than the struggle for life,  human health, his happiness to work. And  we are called all his strength and  experience to give this case.
