The judicial system in Scotland is very different from English and stores it in relation to the large degree of autonomy. In criminal cases, as the supreme and final authority stands located in the High Court of Justiciary Edinburgh (Justiciary in the Middle Ages in the British Isles called the officer performing the functions of chief executive or the judiciary in the absence of the king or on his behalf in Ireland or Scotland). It consists of the head of his lord-general of the judges of Scotland, Lord Justice-Clerk and Lords of the High Court of Justiciary members.
